Dry, frizzy hair is the other big winter complaint at our salon in Helsinki. Here is a simple routine built with products we keep at Happy Oskar, photographed by us (backgrounds styled).
Product details come from the packaging of the products themselves. Read How We Research.
Step 1: a gentle shampoo. Keune So Pure Moisturizing Shampoo
From Keune's So Pure Natural Balance line, labelled for dry hair and sulfate-free, with ylang-ylang, palmarosa and argan oil. Sulfate-free shampoos are usually gentler on dry and coloured hair.
Step 2: condition every time. Keune So Pure Moisturizing Conditioner

The matching conditioner from the same line, also for dry hair. Focus it on the mid-lengths and ends, where hair is oldest and driest, and rinse with cool to lukewarm water.
Step 3: seal the ends. Seliar Keratin Fluid by Echosline

A leave-in fluid with keratin and argan oil, made for coloured and chemically treated hair. According to the box, it helps reduce frizz and split ends and adds shine. Apply a few drops to wet or dry hair, and do not rinse.
Tip: start with one or two drops on the ends. Too much can make fine hair look heavy.
Step 4: smooth before styling. Matrix Total Results Mega Sleek Iron Smoother

A defrizzing leave-in spray from Matrix's Mega Sleek range, made for smoothing frizzy hair, including before straightening. If you use hot tools, always check that your product offers heat protection and follow the label.

Small habits, big difference
- Blot hair with a soft towel or T-shirt instead of rubbing.
- Use a lower heat setting on your hairdryer.
- Never go out into freezing weather with wet hair.
- Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction.
